Improper Gun Settings for parts when spraying Powder

Tuesday, March 21st, 2017

Forrest powder paintImproper Gun Settings for parts:

  1. Powder Concentration too High

Reduce Powder Volume settings

The Gun charges the air in a corona between the gun tip and the grounded part. That corona in turn charges the powder. If the powder volume is excessive there in not the opportunity for the powder to get properly charged

  1. Air Volume too High

Slow down the Powder Delivery Velocity

Powder can be blown past the part before the electrostatic charge can take effect

  1. Air Moisture Level too High

Control the Spray room environment

Excessive moisture draws the charge out of the corona so the effect is like having too much powder or lowered voltage at the gun tip

  1. Control the plant air supply moisture level

Prep your cement slab right

Thursday, February 9th, 2017

A shot blaster is a self-contained portable piece of equipment that shoots metal BBs onto the floor, roughening it and removing about 1/16 inch of concrete. The shot is collected in a rebound chamber and recirculated, while the concrete dust is sucked up by a vacuum connection.Cement shoot blaster

Most garage floors require a full day for prep and patching. The epoxy coating can be applied with brushes or rollers. A durable floor will require at least two coats of epoxy, which must cure overnight between coats. Once the final coat is down, it’s best to wait at least three days before allowing a vehicle into the garage; full curing can take up to two weeks.Applying epoxy

Prep your cement slab right

A new slab needs to cure for at least 28 days before a coating can be applied. The most important step in a successful epoxy job is slab preparation, which takes much longer than coating application. The adhesion won’t be there, and you can get delamination without correct prep.  But, if the floor has been prepped right, the concrete will fail before the bond. If the floor ever chips, the coating will pull up a piece of the concrete with it.Delamination of epoxy Cement shoot blaster

Prep your cement slab right   A smoothly troweled concrete slab needs to be roughed up by either acid washing or shot blasting. Acid washing (or etching) involves mopping a dilute solution of muriatic acid over the floor, then rinsing thoroughly. Because the procedure is fairly simple, it’s popular with many contractors. But most coatings specialists advise that abrasion with a shot blaster prepares a slab more thoroughly than acid washing.
